I help moms get healthy and LOVE life

Sep 11, 2017

Today I decided to record a bonus episode, a minisode I'll call it.  I used to do more of these episodes in the way beginning of my podcasting journey but I got way too busy to continue and had to stop.  Lately, I've been doing things much more intuitively and this episode was speaking to me, literally speaking to me in my head.

I had the words on the tip of my tongue with enough time to jump on the mic and record before I had to run out the door to my hair appointment.

Today's show is exactly what the title is about, duh, in a much more shortened version of what I could talk about BUT I wanted to just plant an idea in your head, so go ahead, give it a listen and you decide for yourself.

I am so proud to announce my guest today, Bernie Siegel. Medical doctor gone woo-woo!

This is truly one of my favorite shows that I will listen to over and over myself because I was totally sucked in by his book, The Art of Healing.

Bernie Siegel, MD is retired from general and pediatric surgical practice since 1989 and has since dedicated himself to humanizing the medical establishment's approach to patients and empowering patients to induce their own healing.

What really got me in the book was the way he figures out the disease by patients drawings, AMAZEBALLS!

So much more packed into this interview that you must listen!

Just jump right in!

Hey Guys!

Today I talk about something I know we can all relate to, inner energy. This is the energy lives deep within us and can either rise sky high when times are great OR can take a dive and dig you into a deep dark hole of depression when something goes wrong.

This energy comes not from food or sleep but from the power of our souls.

You can choose to be open or closed in your heart.

Listen on for the goodness in this show.

I share an example and in this episode, I am deep in emotion, going downhill but manage to lift myself out and end in pure happiness and jittery excitement.

Ok, so this today I share with you, my summer adventures and realizations as well as talking mindfulness and manifestation.

Aug 15, 2017

Welcome Back!

Summer is almost over and my podcast break certainly is! The first time in 2.5 years I have taken a much-needed break and I believe this will be a new trend as this Summer was nice and relaxed and it gave me time to really unwind and study.

Quick Reference:

The Big 3- Time, environment and our body- these are 3 things we use for protection.
Identity Gap- how we appear to the outside world, how we appear to others in our world. Want we want others to believe about who we are.

Do we even know who we are?

Even if we say we don't care about what others say or think about us, we really do deep inside.

We go into an unconscious way of living.

Unconscious v.s conscious

To change something in your life, you need to be aware; conscious.

Teliah's podcast is still young, only  6-7 months old, so I wanted to have her on to share what her struggles were so that you can better understand that WE ALL go through these and it's going to be just fine.  She gives great tips and ideas, so listen up.

As a new podcaster, she loves everything that she does and wants to help others balance their loves, hence the name, The Balancing Act Podcast.

Teliah has been focusing on getting on as many platforms as possible and some she mentions are iTunes, podbean, google play, heart radio, sound cloud, tunein, and spreaker,

We also discussed reaching out to women entrepreneurs to get on more podcasts.

We all go through challenges in the beginning of our pod journey. She shares her here

Some parting advice from Teliah- if you really believe in your content, don’t get caught up in the details, just put your voice.

Today I spoke with Maria Palumbo

Maria Palumbo’s ‘soul mission’ is to awaken women to their innate power. Beginning in community mental health, Maria served as a psychotherapist with a specialty in healing the wounds of trauma. She expanded on her education and experience in psychotherapy by becoming certified in Yoga and Reiki II.

Recently she burst through the box of psychotherapy to create her own model of self-discovery which stokes the holy fire in every woman she meets combining Western and Eastern rituals of healing. Acutely aware of the innate genius in all, Maria works with women, helping them connect to who they are. She is the creator of BodyLove Goddess Photoshoot, an event that is the impetus for a body-love revolution. She is also a mentor for brilliant women all around the world through her Awaken To Your Magic Mentorship program. You can work with her 1:1 in her mentorship and check her website for details including a way to chat with her on the phone about the program.

We talked about so many things, below are a bunch of points to listen out for in this chat with Maria

what are we doing that's tripping us up?

something from the past holds us back that isn’t healed yet

do the deeper work to connect to our past

give space to ourselves

the blocks melt away because we are given power to us

manifestation is about facing ourselves

recognizing who we are and our belief sys and changing that

worthiness-its will show up in all areas of life

I am excited about today's show because I got to interview my very own coach, Jess Blanche.

Jess and I connected in the beginning of 2017 when I said to myself, and OUT LOUD that I wanted to hire a coach. Not actually thinking it would happen so soon, or at all.

After everything that she has helped me with in getting clear and especially manifesting, I invited her on.

We hear this word manifestation ALOT now but WTF does it actually mean? And how do we believe in it and do it?

This is what we are going to talk about today:

  • the law of attraction and manifesting
  • why your energy is so important
  • the law of attraction- energetic law that states your thoughts become things ex.starting with a bad day and keep focusing the negative feeling
  • This can go the opposite way to
  • getting aligned with the positive
  • the process of manifesting:
  • practical woo- science to back things
  • the combination of physic and psychology
  • in a state of negative. and want to get out?
  • whats is going to hurt to start thinking positively
  • you already feel bad
  • How to start-"what's the worst thing that can happen if I think positively even if I don’t believe in the law of attraction?
  • the secret is not just about making a vision board
  • thinking positively and taking the action
  • reaching your goals is up to you and no-one else

if you are stuck:

be really kind to yourself

Self-acceptance and self-forgiveness

“i feel _______ about_________ but i choose to love and accept myself anyways

We expect change to happen really fast but you need to take time to rewire your brain

what do you do to start your day?

What's your morning routine?

I follow how I'm feeling and what my body and mind needs every day- Jess Blanche

Jenn is a health and mindset coach who  focuses on where her clients blocks and fears are come from within

Are they coming from  a situation that has happened in the past? She explores those parameters. She has her clients write in their journals daily. They carry their journals with them and when the anxiety arises or something they write about it. She also has clients create vision boards and with those she wants them to journal on why they chose those visions.

Jenn takes the time to call out BS and has no objections of doing it. She has her clients really think about why they act a certain way and bring all that crazy crap to the surface. Once they bring all the crap onto the surface that allows people to really step into their power and into their truth.

Some topics we go into

health or biz goal?

why a brand new journal

new goal and why this goal?

dig deep into your goal

write it out and see the emotions come out

go to music

take care of yourself first, teach your kids that

How to Be a Relaxed Parent and Grow a Well Informed and Independent Little Person:

Check out the FB live/blog/or Podcast!

In this episode I am going to share with you how I am MOST OF THE TIME a super cool relaxed parent who trusts in her kid.

I will help you understand why we are uptight asses sometime to ourselves

Did you know that kids pick up on that shit?

Teach your kid be more independent

  1. Don't force them to eat when they don't want to
  2.  Let them play and enjoy their mess.Relax, the toys everywhere and the messes are whats to be expected, you can train them later on in life
  3.  Let THEM decide how they feel or what they want to do. ex. when they are cold or hot or hungry or not
  4. Let them choose their outfits
  5. Teach them important topics as early as you feel fit. ex. money, sex, drugs, divorce, ect.

Kids have a very strong sense of their intuition and its important that we allow them to use this power and trust in it because it will follow them through life

How to be a relaxed parent

  1.  Don’t freak out if they lie around on the floor or get dirty
  2.  Relax if they fall or get hurt
  3.  Stop worrying about what everyone else says or thinks you should do
  4.  Listen to your doctor first but don’t feel like you have to do exactly what they say
  5. Stop obsessing over numbers, stats and percentiles.
  6. Don't obsess over nutrition because you will only transfer your crazy obsessive behaviors into them and thats what causes eating disorders and body image issues
  7. Let them decide most of the time, it lets them know that you trust in them and it helps you to take some pressure off
  8. Go out with friends
  9. take care of yourself first

Well that's what I got for ya this week.  Hope you got some value out of my experiences!!

So.... the Laurenjean Show is merging with the Passion to Pod podcast because Laurenjean, that's me, needs to take a chill pill but still wants to do it all!

I'll give you an update on what the heck is going on

How my podcasting journey has increased my confidence: from a lost recently divorced single mom with no self esteem with a 50 hour a week job to lost health coach and now podcaster with MAJOR self confidence and now teaching others they can do the same.

I also cover:

structuring your show/interview

  • Following a script....i don't reccommend because it doesn't feel real to me, I've done it
  • bullet points—speak on important point and go with da flow
  • say what comes to min—more conversational with a topic

I want to star answering community questions as well and here is the first!

Join the Facebook group!

Community Question:

Any tips on structuring an interview? I'm thinking backstory of interviewee, standard Qs for the field, Q's from listeners (pre podcast), then like a lightening round of Q's with quick A's.

Are there any particular questions you find your listeners like the most in interviews? Is there a format you find works best?

Yes backstory, standard questions but customized to that particular guest, can do a lightening round, favorite things, quotes, book, ppl to follow, etc.

Favorite things listeners like: 3-5 actionable tips, a freebie from the guest, a simple place to find the guest , not 5 places, surprise questions for the guests to get to know them better.

Interview Tips, NOT MUST DO'S

Prep your questions- if you choose to go that route: I DO NOT.

Write your questions in advance, this is helpful in the beginning of your new pod – don’t wing it, even if you are familiar with your guest.Understand they need to know what the heck is going on, so help them with questions if it will help you both.

Do some poking around on your guest, find their website and stalk their blog a bit. Seek out something intriguing on their website to discuss, something different that you have not discussed on your pod yet.

Consider your listener and what may be enticing to them? Can your guest stir up a great conversation? What are the must talk about topics you need to include?

Stick to 5-7 questions, keep it simple incase you want to go off the deep end in a great conversation.

I hope this helps you get started!

xoxo, laurenjean
