So today was great! Again a live one and i can't wait to do more!

Today is Thanksgiving so I don't expect you are listening today unless it's you 1 thing you are doing for yourself and in that case... Thank YOU!

Today I talked about 5 ways to chill the F out, cause it's holiday time:

Breaking it down real quick for you because I want you to listen:

 

  1. Be yourself, don't try to impress or go above and beyond
  2. Simplify your meals
  3. Forget the shoulds
  4. Do things that make you feel good
  5. Do 1 bad thing

My bad thing is to enjoy the meal, even the dessert, NO guilt all pleasure!

This was my first episode recorded live!  So exciting!

Today I spoke about the holiday season and food struggles during this time of the year.

We struggle with so much and when the holidays hit right after Halloween I feel it comes into full force where we are so concerned with what and how we are eating so we don't get to fully ENJOY the holiday and all its goodness.

 

Three feelings come to mind when talking food and the holidays:

Shame

Anxiety 

Guilt

Lisa is a licensed therapist.  She works with clients in private practice with trauma and anxiety.  

 

Being a mom can be so stressful and anxiety ridden so she helps mom’s calm down and cope with life without having to see a shrink or self-medicate.

 

The typical mom has to worry about is she giving her kid work during the summer to stop the summer slide(when she grew up summer slide was something that you actually slid on) not extra homework she was supposed to give her child so that he didn’t fall behind in school during the summer.  Today’s mom’s live with constant comparison’s-my next door neighbor’s daughter is reading in the 99th percentile.  Why didn’t I breastfeed longer?  Why didn’t I read to my daughter more when she was little?

 

Mom’s today are in a frenzy of information and people telling us we are bad mom’s. My friend’s daughter got into MIT, my son spends all of his time on his iPad playing Minecraft?? How will he ever get into a good college?

 

Add travel soccer teams, piano lessons, piano lessons, plus a career and many women are nervous balls of anxiety.  Beating up on them selves or anxious about their children and everything that they have to do in their lives.  Constant worry, dread and anxiety can overwhelm them and stop them from really enjoying children.

 

In this episode Lisa shares with us some of the tips that she shares with her clients.  She lives in the big, beautiful state of Montana and have two beautiful daughters, a handsome husband, and cat named Oreo who rules the roost.

I spoke with Perpetua Neo and at a perfect time, right before I was about to go through my own anxiety, which I deal with from time to time. But this time it hit perfectly. 

As I type this I am just coming out of a 2.5 week of complete shutdown, where my brain and body were so confused and wiped the f out. Remembering what we spoke about and the notes I took during the interview with Perpetua we wonderful:
