How to Be a Relaxed Parent and Grow a Well Informed and Independent Little Person:

Check out the FB live/blog/or Podcast!

In this episode I am going to share with you how I am MOST OF THE TIME a super cool relaxed parent who trusts in her kid.

I will help you understand why we are uptight asses sometime to ourselves

Did you know that kids pick up on that shit?

Yea.

Teach your kid be more independent

  1. Don't force them to eat when they don't want to
  2.  Let them play and enjoy their mess.Relax, the toys everywhere and the messes are whats to be expected, you can train them later on in life
  3.  Let THEM decide how they feel or what they want to do. ex. when they are cold or hot or hungry or not
  4. Let them choose their outfits
  5. Teach them important topics as early as you feel fit. ex. money, sex, drugs, divorce, ect.

Kids have a very strong sense of their intuition and its important that we allow them to use this power and trust in it because it will follow them through life

How to be a relaxed parent

  1.  Don’t freak out if they lie around on the floor or get dirty
  2.  Relax if they fall or get hurt
  3.  Stop worrying about what everyone else says or thinks you should do
  4.  Listen to your doctor first but don’t feel like you have to do exactly what they say
  5. Stop obsessing over numbers, stats and percentiles.
  6. Don't obsess over nutrition because you will only transfer your crazy obsessive behaviors into them and thats what causes eating disorders and body image issues
  7. Let them decide most of the time, it lets them know that you trust in them and it helps you to take some pressure off
  8. Go out with friends
  9. take care of yourself first

Well that's what I got for ya this week.  Hope you got some value out of my experiences!!

So.... the Laurenjean Show is merging with the Passion to Pod podcast because Laurenjean, that's me, needs to take a chill pill but still wants to do it all!

I'll give you an update on what the heck is going on

How my podcasting journey has increased my confidence: from a lost recently divorced single mom with no self esteem with a 50 hour a week job to lost health coach and now podcaster with MAJOR self confidence and now teaching others they can do the same.

I also cover:

structuring your show/interview

  • Following a script....i don't reccommend because it doesn't feel real to me, I've done it
  • bullet points—speak on important point and go with da flow
  • say what comes to min—more conversational with a topic

I want to star answering community questions as well and here is the first!

Join the Facebook group!

Community Question:

Any tips on structuring an interview? I'm thinking backstory of interviewee, standard Qs for the field, Q's from listeners (pre podcast), then like a lightening round of Q's with quick A's.

Are there any particular questions you find your listeners like the most in interviews? Is there a format you find works best?

Me:

Yes backstory, standard questions but customized to that particular guest, can do a lightening round, favorite things, quotes, book, ppl to follow, etc.

Favorite things listeners like: 3-5 actionable tips, a freebie from the guest, a simple place to find the guest , not 5 places, surprise questions for the guests to get to know them better.

Interview Tips, NOT MUST DO'S

Prep your questions- if you choose to go that route: I DO NOT.

Write your questions in advance, this is helpful in the beginning of your new pod – don’t wing it, even if you are familiar with your guest.Understand they need to know what the heck is going on, so help them with questions if it will help you both.

Do some poking around on your guest, find their website and stalk their blog a bit. Seek out something intriguing on their website to discuss, something different that you have not discussed on your pod yet.

Consider your listener and what may be enticing to them? Can your guest stir up a great conversation? What are the must talk about topics you need to include?

Stick to 5-7 questions, keep it simple incase you want to go off the deep end in a great conversation.

I hope this helps you get started!

xoxo, laurenjean
