I had the opportunity to speak to Gaia Shawna Morrissette. This lady is a firecracker and I could talk to her forever!

In this series, since it is February we are all about sex, love and relationships and with still sticking to the topics of Letting go of Control, Intuition, and, Confidence.

Well this is a doozy of a show and WOW what we talked about IS POWERFUL!

We spoke about letting go of control down below and BDSM

When we feel unsafe in the world, we become a control freak with all around us. We create an obsessive need to control.

But not so easy.

We aren’t able to let go BECAUSE we feel unsafe.

Look at what is going on around you to see why you don’t feel safe. Go and look inside yourself and see WHY you don’t feel safe.

From a sexy place….. if you are in a place of control you cant control and orgasm, you need to learn to let go!

Take baby steps:

Practice surrender in the moment.- creates a new neuropathway  in your brain.

Use tools to let go:

Our mind is an organ that needs exercise, so exercise it!

You need to work on this it won’t just happen!

Key: a little exercise everyday will help.

Take a moment to be in your body, close your eyes, breathe and feel your breath in your body, feel the sensations and relax. Do this 4-5 times everyday and the next time you are in a sexual situation, focus on the sensations, pay attention to all the senses. It may be scary but sit with it and push harder to focus the next time. Allow yourself to surrender and let go out control.

Dr. Jenelle is a PhD Psychologist and Relationship Advisor with a specialty on  focus on female same-sex couples - especially those that are a result of leaving a heterosexual relationship for a female partner! she talks a lot about the fluidity of sexuality and finds this such an important topic

 So many people assumed I was "hiding" who I really was all the years I was with my ex (he was my high school boyfriend and we were together for over 10 years), and that I was always a "lesbian" and finally just "came out". In fact, none of that is true! I was in love with my ex for a long time, until I outgrew that relationship. I also have had a very open-mind when it comes to love and relationships, and since probably the age of 14 I have said that I would be open to men and women - that it was more about the personal connection than anything else (so I truly have no "coming out" story). I also do not consider myself a lesbian (that one always throws people hah) in fact I don't really apply any label to my sexuality at all. And in fact, there are many of us out there

When I told her what today's show was going to be about she said "UM NO"

I was going to discuss your feeling and how you want to feel based on the work of Danielle Laporte, but wasn't feeling it.

I had to listen to my gut when she said it was time to be vulnerable and get out my thoughts so that I could become clear and get more focus.

After all of my self development adventures I am now a strong believer that New Year's Resolution DO NOT work and in fact I think they are bulldoodie.

Every year for as long as I can remember I pledged to a resolution, usually had to do with my health and fitness. Most people do.

The Top 10 resolutions according to The Statistic Brain are :

Lose Weight
Getting Organized
Spend Less, Save More
Enjoy Life to the Fullest
Staying Fit and Healthy
Learn Something Exciting
Quit Smoking
Help Others in Their Dreams
Fall in Love
Spend More Time with Family

I'm not talking about the need to control others as much as the need for the SENSE of control. It is a deep rooted need in a human. Its all about the feeling and it cannot be ignored, because it is in fact a NEED. Like any feeling it is there for a reason and needs attention and love and understanding. and like any need if it goes unmet, shit hits the fan and life spirals out of control, literally….

 

When we experience the sense of being out of control we feel stressed and that need increases with intensity.

 

If we look back in evolution, we needed to be in control of what was happening around us to stay alive. in our subconscious mind we are highly sensitive to fight or flight (fight to the death or flight from defeat)

 

Some other needs for control:

Control issues may be related to:

  1. Traumatic or abusive life experiences.
  2. A lack of trust.
  3. Anxiety. 
  4. Fears of abandonment.
  5. Low or damaged self-esteem.
  6. A person's beliefs, values, and faith.
  7. Perfectionism and the fear of failure.
  8. Emotional sensitivity and the fear of experiencing painful emotions.

 

Do you know who Maslow is?

 

Heard of Maslows hierarchy of needs?

 

When the lower needs aren’t met, the higher ones are neglected because of the simple fact the body needs the lower ones as a priority. If we feel out of control because of poor health, the focus goes to that and the same with extreme exhaustion, we have no choice but to gain that control back again.  this makes complete sense!

Now if you REALLY think about, do REALLY NEED to have control or just a feeling that you have a sense of control, that you know what is happening, will happen, or can happen?  Probably just a sense of control right?

 

We give control to people we trust in life, so this shows we have the sense of control not that we need to be in control of everything that is happening.  

 

Society dictates a lot for us, what is expected, allowed, so when we follow these we feel in control because we feel safe.

 

we have daily patterns we follow a schedule, most of us. Even if its just a morning or evening routine, it makes us feel in control and safe and comfortable.  Imagine not having a morning routine, if you are the type who needs to have a sense of control, its chaotic!

 

When we lose that sense of control we fall back to being not so nice to be around, we tend to have to seek out a way to get a hold, or control of our surroundings, we get stiff and snappy at others. We want to feel safe and in that moment we don’t FEEL safe.

 

I always say life is about feelings and this is a great example of a need to feel, to understand that feeling and to nurture it, not push it away..

 

So what can we do to understand

 

  1. Learn your story…. figure out YOU, thats why Im here, to help Episode 31

 

This is a DEEP process and if you are dedicated to YOURSELF this is where to start, need help? Im here!

 

  1. Stop
  2. Think of the situation you are trying to gain the feeling of control in
  3. accept that you don’t have control
  4. Think about WHY you need to feel in control
  5. ask yourself “how can i Feel better and what do i need to relieve the pain,

do it.

 

UNDERSTAND that when you try so hard to get control of a situation you just repel it.

ex. children and parents, or trying to get the attention of the opposite sex.

 

When you push too hard the opposite happens, in most situations. By taking away the needs that lead to a sense of control, you can relieve some stress. learning to be uncertain, unaware of the outcome, know that it is okay to not finish something, inconsistency. 

 

these can all break that incessant need to control and at the same time the universe gives you back what you want and need.

So I hope you got a chance to listen to OR watch last weeks show on So...What's your story.

I am having such a great time doing these FB Live shows for you each monday, it really is an honor.

This week I was SUPER inspired to bring to you a show about emotions and how they can affect your life IF YOU GET TO KNOW THEM, the ones inside your own head that is as well as understanding that others go through the same exact shit that you do!

Leaning into that uncomfortable spot that we so often try to hide with food, work, drugs, or sex is so hard! I know!

I referenced a section of the book Rising Strong by Brene Brown in this episode because I had picked up the book from the library before Thanksgiving and just started reading it this past week and BOOM was she on point.  I am doing this stuff myself but coming across it in a book I was shocked to see that what she had so carefully researched, I was doing but hadn't put it 100% together yet. It felt soooo good and just right. I HIGHLY suggest you grab this book

What I was talking about in the podcast was how Brene so nicely laid out the the 3 points to make everything come together so nicely.

  1. to understand your own feeling and emotions
  2. Understand that others have the same feelings and emotions and need to be understood too
  3. lean into that uncomfortable feeling to then push yourself forward.

Today I spoke about the holiday season and food struggles during this time of the year.

We struggle with so much and when the holidays hit right after Halloween I feel it comes into full force where we are so concerned with what and how we are eating so we don't get to fully ENJOY the holiday and all its goodness.

 

Three feelings come to mind when talking food and the holidays:

Shame

Anxiety 

Guilt

Lisa is a licensed therapist.  She works with clients in private practice with trauma and anxiety.  

 

Being a mom can be so stressful and anxiety ridden so she helps mom’s calm down and cope with life without having to see a shrink or self-medicate.

 

The typical mom has to worry about is she giving her kid work during the summer to stop the summer slide(when she grew up summer slide was something that you actually slid on) not extra homework she was supposed to give her child so that he didn’t fall behind in school during the summer.  Today’s mom’s live with constant comparison’s-my next door neighbor’s daughter is reading in the 99th percentile.  Why didn’t I breastfeed longer?  Why didn’t I read to my daughter more when she was little?

 

Mom’s today are in a frenzy of information and people telling us we are bad mom’s. My friend’s daughter got into MIT, my son spends all of his time on his iPad playing Minecraft?? How will he ever get into a good college?

 

Add travel soccer teams, piano lessons, piano lessons, plus a career and many women are nervous balls of anxiety.  Beating up on them selves or anxious about their children and everything that they have to do in their lives.  Constant worry, dread and anxiety can overwhelm them and stop them from really enjoying children.

 

In this episode Lisa shares with us some of the tips that she shares with her clients.  She lives in the big, beautiful state of Montana and have two beautiful daughters, a handsome husband, and cat named Oreo who rules the roost.

So these past 2 weeks I have had a REAl hard time but I have had success in following my intuition and listening to my feelings.

SCORE!

Still having a hard time but awareness is there and I am headed in the right direction. Big changes are happening once again and SO many feelings came up

To the point where I shutdown mentally, physically and emotionally. I needed to do this so that I could get a clear head.

 

In this episode I share with you what I was going thorough and how i pulled out and How i am still working on it and finally feeling better.

Through intuition, control and feelings so many things in life can be understood.

I transition once again, earlier than expected and without fear of losing you.

 Welcome back junkies!!

 

Today I spoke with Nicolya williams from www.nicolyawilliams.com.

Nicolya is Personal Development Coach who works with busy women to conquer their mindset and be productive!

In this episode she shares with us 5 great ways to be more productive! Who doesn't need that?

No more fluff, read on and listen in!

1.    First thing in the morning avoid immediately looking at your phone. The first twenty minutes when you wake is the most vulnerable time for your subconscious mind. If you use that time for affirmations, meditation, and prayer you will start your day on a more positive, calm, 

2.    Complete the most important task first. Yes, there will always be countless tasks on your to-do list. We as busy women have to learn how to prioritize our list. The truth is if I have three projects due, but one is really comprehensive or due sooner than the other two I ensure that I knock that out immediately. 

3.    Try what she calls “daily power hour’s”. I was given this suggestion from a former life coach. Power hours are the time that I dedicate to one specific goal. Each day I identify what my power hour will be geared towards. Some days it is my business, some days it is work and other days it is school. This is determined by the task that is most important to complete at the time being.  During my daily power hour, I shut off my phone, therefore, I am not tempted to check social media or emails. I also make this time of my day after my daughters fall asleep. This is to ensure that I will not be pulled in many different directions.

4.    Take advantage of down time. How many of you have time where you are waiting in a doctor’s/dentist office? Standing outside waiting for your kid’s school bus? Etc. I use these moments to take advantage of other responsibilities so that they do not bog down my time later in the day. Some examples of things I do during this time includes checking my email, catching up on missed text messages or social media notifications. if it is going to be a long wait I may bring a book with me as well and use that time to catch up on my reading.

5.    Lastly, I am sure to manage my energy. This is something I have learned the hard way, unfortunately. I spent many days so focused on my goals that I let myself slide. I would eat a ton of junk food, not drink enough water and reduce my sleep to add time to my priorities. In the long run, this really hurt me because when I did not have the energy I was not really productive like I desired. When you make it a priority to fuel your body with nutritious food, appropriate sleep and also exercise you will be able to have the energy needed to balance the busy schedule you have.

I hope these tips have been helpful to you. It is my desire that you do not just read this information, but that you actually take the information I shared and apply it in your life. Productivity is your key to success, be sure to make it a priority!- Nicolya

Yes life takes over after a full time job, marriage and kids but you can still play however you desire as long as you know that you can.

I started listening to AMY over a year ago when i heard her name mentioned in her bff's podcast @ Your Kick Ass Life with Andrea Owen.
