Laura works as a holistic health coach for "emotional detoxing”. She helps women to uncover the emotional burdens that they carry as excess weight, or in form of emotional eating habits, so that they transform and release weight and unhealthy habits for good.

In her work, she doesn't look at conscious-behaviorial changes, but digs deeper into what the underlying cause is. With that she often find traumatic experiences in childhood, or patterns in the family system.

Today we will learn why we really do what we do and how uncovering the reasons with connections can help us “emotionally detox and recover.

Today's tip:

Make someone's day by smiling or asking them how they are doing.  It will make you feel great and they will feel wonderful too because someone cares about how they feel.

I've done this and it's a wonderful feeling!

I have been doing so much work, so much digging, so much to try and understand why I do what I do..

Below are 8 ways I've been improving my diet mentality:

1. Digging deep into my  emotions and starting to make connections

2. I am discovering what I am afraid of and facing it.

3. Talking with a friend on a weekly basis on person and daily through text

4. Using evernote to journal

5. Questioning myself each time I grab something to eat

6. Addressing food triggers

7. interviewing coaches for the show

8. Teaching myself to listen to my body, when I am hungry.

These simple tips can get you started, even if you just choose just 1...do it, youll be happy you did!

Isabel Foxen Duke is a Certified Health Coach and Emotional Eating Expert.

Her areas of expertise include binge-eating, emotional eating and chronic unsuccessful dieting.

After years of trying to overcome emotional eating through "traditional" and alternative approaches, Isabel discovered some radical new ways to get women over their food issues — not just by shifting the mindsets of individuals, but by creating a greater cultural revolution.

Her writing and free guide, How to Not Eat Cake...really fast, standing up, when nobody's looking, can be found at www.isabelfoxenduke.com.

In this episode learn:

What a diet culture is and how it affects us as women.

Why women want to lose weight and what do we think we will gain from it.

A little history of where dieting started (very little)

Why weight went from vanity to health and now doctors are backing up dieting…

Why yo-yo dieting does not work…

The diet industry knows that diets do not work and yet they continue to sell us and we continue to buy

What binge eating is and what it does to us…

When we lose control around food it turns into disaster and then what?

What emotional eating is according to Isabel…

Dieting is correlated to emotional eating…

Nothing is good or bad, it’s about choice and what’s appropriate for you as an individual…

What a “normal eater is”…

What intuitive eating is…

And more…
