Welcome to Self-Care Saturday Girls!

This week’s self-care tip is to get off the phone, computer, and tablet and do a digital detox!

Yes I know this is hard but think about how it interferes with your everyday life and how much time you could get back to yourself.

I want you to do this one task this weekend for 6 hours or more…Turn off the phone, put it away and notice how you feel.

Do you feel good, anxious, or like you just can’t do without it?  Maybe you have an addiction?  It may be true.

Too many of us are addicted and are losing precious time we could be with our kids, family, and friends.

Just try it!

8+ Ways to Keep Fit while with your kids:

Ok… I’m going to keep this simple for ya’ll!

Lists I feel are the best ways for you to read and scan, since we don’t  have too uch time to read much these days…

So here are my NO EXCUSE ways to keep fit while with the kiddos:

1.   Walking…strap that kid into the stroller and walk in the morning, while he is napping, or after dinner as a family.

2.   Dance around the house like a fool and have fun!

3.   Get dirty in the garden while kids get dirty playing in the yard.

4.   Go for short sprints, or race with your kids

5.   Set up the front lawn with games

6.   Enter a walk or run for charity as a family

At the park:

7.   Squat while swinging you child

8.   Step ups on a bench or on the playground

9.   Use the monkey bars

10.Walk the perimeter while your kid plays

11. Lunges in place or walking

12. Bring a jump rope

13. Pushups (on a bench or a bar)

14.Bring a ball and start a game of kick ball

Lastly:

15. Indoor/At home workouts- beachbody videos or other videos.

Why am I loving at home workouts?

1.   No need to travel to a gym- save more time

2.   A gym schedule doesn’t dictate your routine

3.   No gym member ship needed

4.   You don’t need to care about how you look

5.   The germs in your house are your own, no sweaty equipment

6.   After your workout you can go right to your own kitchen and make a shake- shakeology is yummy!

7.   You can grunt, or yell or scream,  no one but you is there

8.   You can roll right out of bed and hit play and get to it!

So there you go!  I think I gave you enough reasons why you should workout at home!

Check out Beachbody here if you want more info and I can get you going and coach you through it!

This month is an awesome sale with the 21 Day Fix!!

Thank you so much for your time today and I hope you got some great inspiration and motivation to get your tush moving!!

Are you no longer your own person? Do you allow yourself to be consumed by your child?  Have you lost your identity and you don’t know who you are anymore?

You are not alone!  I get it!  Been there done that momma.

We are not just moms, we are women too…

Try to stay away from using your baby’s name in social media or in your email address.  Remain yourself.  Don’t fall into the category of the mom who stops taking care of herself..

Listen back to the first episode where I stress about what this podcast is all about.  Being yourself, having wants, needs, and desires.

Do you want to be yourself?  Its okay to consume yourself with your baby, we are moms and this is what we do but don’t forget who you are.

What are your want, needs, and desires?

Who are you?

Lead by example for your kids so they too grow up to be a strong confident individual who also takes care of them selves…

EATING THE RAINBOW!

There are so many songs and jingles about this beautiful thing called a rainbow because they're amazing and beautiful—not just in the sky, but also on the dining table and in our tummies!

"Eating a rainbow" helps your body get a complete range of nutrients. – WHOLE KIDS

What exactly does eating the rainbow mean?

·      Picking lots of of different-colored whole foods throughout the day.

·      The more naturally occurring colors you munch on at each meal or snack, the better.

·      This does not mean fake food with fake colors (gummy snacks, soda, popsicles, etc.)

Connecting the Rainbow with Healthy Eating:

Did you know that fruits and veggies get their gorgeous color from naturally occurring micronutrients?

Did you also know that these micronutrients transfer to your body when you eat them?

YES!

They provide us with powerful vitamin and phytonutrients that are essential for super health!

The Colors in the Rainbow are:

Red- apples, cherries, watermelon, strawberries, tomatoes etc.

Orange/Yellow- yellow peppers, lemons, oranges, pineapple etc.

Green- green beans, cucumbers, green peppers etc.

Blue/Purple- blueberries, blackberries, figs, eggplant, beets dark beans etc…

The Rainbow Dinner Game:

Step 1: Before Dinner draw a rainbow on a piece of paper and bring it to the dinner table with some scrap paper and a pencil or crayon.

Step 2: Match the foods on the table with the colors in the rainbow and then write down the missing colors.

Step 3: Make a list of foods that you could fill in the missing colors with.

Step 4: Bring to school and show your friends!

Other ways to incorporate the rainbow into your life:

·      Plant a garden and have the kids help and watch their food grow.

·      Keep a rainbow chart so the kids can keep track of what they eat through the week, talk about their favorites and what else they want to try.

·      Choose a color of the week and shop for as many foods that color

·      Have the family slowly fill their plates at dinner with ½ colorful veggies

Tips for us parents:

·      Add  to your shopping list whatever colors you are missing each week

·      Purchase what’s in season for peak nutrition and flavor

·      Clean fresh produce as soon as you get home and store in the fridge cut up at kids eye level so it’s easy for them to grab

·      Make cute food pictures on their plates or use skewers

·      Let them play with their food!  Make it fun!

·      Serve a weekly whole rainbow dinner

·      Add the rainbow to their lunch boxes too

·      Serve fresh yummy sweet fruit as a dessert
